Over the next several issues, the benefits of using the CMA website or software program will be outlined in the News and Announcements section. This month the FREE to all user benefits will be itemized and reviewed. Next month we will itemize what is available on a pay as you go basis, and probably in May the benefits that only registered users receive. Obviously, our goal here is to allow you to see the value to youself as a user the benefits of upgrading to registered user status, but also to see that value is present here even for free.

A) - REMINDERS


Although, I don't mention them often enough, please be reminded of the many free for "all" items on the CMA Website. When I say free for "all", I mean these items are free to all site users, whether you are a registered user or not. Some websites require a membership or registration fee for many of these free items or services. I won't deny that we have talked about doing that here as well, because it's not easy to earn income and survive in the dotcom world as you all know. For now, we earn our income through the sale of our registered version software product (30-day free trial available) and from some advertising affiliates. So, I say again, please take advantage of the free "stuff" while it lasts. I know that I have witnessed many other sites cutting back on the freebies. Okay! Enough said, here are the free item reminders:

B) - TOTALLY FREE NEW CARS



Totally Free Cars

Okay, I know what you are thinking, there ain't no free lunch. So what is the scam or Catch 22? Low priced cars sell for $12,000 to $20,000 mid-range cars sell for $21,000 to $33,000 and luxury/sport models are $34,000 and up, so what company in it's right mind and with the economic climate the way it is would want to give you or anyone a car for free? Well, I investigated this when I heard about it through an ad in a college newspaper and found out that it is true and it is legitimate. As a matter of fact I learned that hundreds of thousands of cars have already been given away to Americans and now the program is spreading world wide. After learning what I did, I decided to affiliate the CMA website with an organization named Totally Free Cars. TFC or Totally Free Cars is one of the companies that the major manufacturers or corporations use to screen potential clients to be provided with a free car.

Totally Free Cars

Here is how it works. It might be right for you or you might decide it's not for you. If you have read this far then this concept must interest you, so I'll provide you with the highlights and if you are still interested you can click the banner link and find out anything else you need to know. First off, there is an application form to fill out and it costs $25 whether you are accepted or rejected from the program. This is an absolutely legitimate fee for processing and investigating the information on your application. Next, you need to have a pretty clean driving record. If you have multiple accidents and traffic violations, then save your money. Be prepared to wait up to several months for the processing. If you are accepted by a company for their free car program, you have no choice over which model they give to you, but they might take a request into consideration. You must agree that this is your primary vehicle and you must drive it to work and use it everyday, you can't give it to your kid to commute to school. It might have discrete advertising somewhere on it's exterior or you may have to agree to show it to people or display it for a day at a mall once in a while. Maintenance, such as oil changes is generally free on a set time basis and most major repairs will also be taken care of by a special extended warranty agreement. You must also agree to keep the car from two to five years depending on the company. You will also have to agree to use the companies own car insurance company and not your own, but I understand the rates are competitive. If what I have described to you sounds fair in return for a free car, then go for it.

3- 2003 SVT COBRA INFORMATION


As most of you already know, there will be no 2002 SVT Cobra model. The good news however is the 2003 Mustang should be in the dealer showrooms in just a few months. The 2003 Cobra was unveiled at the Chicago Auto Show with the DOHC 32V V8 engine, not the SOHC 4.6 V8 many folks thought would be used.

5 - PAINT DURABILITY


In the near future, Ford Motor Company customers will be spending less time and less money on the maintenance of their automobile finish, thanks to a collaborative research effort that makes paints used on Ford vehicles even more durable. If you have ever owned a black Mustang or other Ford, you will appreciate this Ford research.

A Major Role for Research
Over the years, the Ford Research Laboratory has carried out fundamental research in understanding the basic chemistries of paint degradation during environmental exposure. Durable paints must stand up to a number of environmental factors such as ultra-violet light, acid rain, stone chips, and car-wash scratches. The ultimate goal of the laboratory's paint group is to support implementation of high-value, environmentally friendly materials and processes that ensure durability and customer satisfaction.

A Bright Future
In the future, Ford owners in warmer climates, such as the southern United States and Mexico, won't have to worry about the paint on their vehicles fading or peeling as a result of extensive sun exposure. In addition, customers everywhere will soon feel comfortable running their vehicles through car washes without experiencing damage from high-pressure water streams. The days of regular waxing and touch-ups will soon be over.

6 - MORE GT-40


NEW FORD GT40 CONCEPT JOINS ‘LIVING LEGENDS’ CAR LINEUP

The GT40 legendary car brought to life by Henry Ford II to change performance car history finds new life in a modern road car that re-ignites Ford’s hallmarks of passion, performance and speed. The new high-performance concept is inspired by the vehicle that roared into the hearts of car enthusiasts everywhere during the 1960s. The new GT40 joins Ford’s "Living Legends" lineup of production and concept cars, including the Ford Thunderbird and Mustang, and the Forty-Nine concept.

"GT40 is the ultimate Living Legend," explains J Mays, Ford vice president of Design. "It’s a true supercar with appeal equal to that of the greatest sports cars in the world, but with the addition of a heritage no one can match. Essential elements of the original including the stunning low profile and mid-mounted American V-8 continue in this latest interpretation of the classic." While the new concept and the original both share the mystique of the GT40 name, they share not a single dimension. The concept is more than a foot and a half longer and stands nearly four inches taller. Its new lines draw upon and refine the best features of GT40 history and express the car’s identity through modern proportion and surface development.


Design

The GT40 concept casts the familiar, sleek silhouette of its namesake, yet every dimension, every curve and every line on the car is a unique reinterpretation of the original. The GT40 features a long front overhang reminiscent of 1960s-era racecars. But its sweeping cowl, subtle accent lines and fiber-optic headlamps strike a distinctly contemporary pose. The front fenders curve over 18-inch wheels and Goodyear white-lettered tires. In the tradition of championship racers, the doors cut into the roof. Prominent on the leading edge of the rear quarter panel are functional cooling scoops that channel fresh air to the engine. The rear wheel wells, filled with 19-inch Goodyear tires, define the rear of the car, while the accent line from the front cowl rejoins and finishes the car’s profile at the integrated "ducktail" spoiler. The interior design incorporates the novel "ventilated seats" and instrument layout of the original car, with straightforward analog gauges and large tachometer. Modern versions of the original car’s toggle switches operate key systems. "Like its namesake, the GT40 concept is not over-wrought with advanced technologies," Mays says. "While it represents the best of Ford design, engineering and expertise, it is a no-frills machine. You won't find voice-activated telematics here, not even power windows just pure, refined performance." Looking in through the backlight, one finds the essence of the sports car in the MOD 5.4-liter V-8 engine and its complex array of polished stainless-steel header pipes, braided stainless steel fuel lines with anodized aluminum fittings and supercharger with intercooler. "The GT40 concept should do three things: go fast, handle exceptionally and look great," says Chris Theodore, Ford’s vice president of North America Product Development. "To be true to its Ford heritage, we had to create a supercar that would be uniquely a Ford. Anyone can do technology showpieces, high-displacement engines and modernistic designs, but there’s much more to a GT40. There’s heritage and heart. We think this car remains true to the spirit of its predecessors."

Chassis

As on the historic car, the composite body panels are unstressed. Instead of steel or honeycombcomposite tubs used in the 1960s, Ford’s SVT Engineering group developed an all-new aluminum spaceframe as the foundation for the GT40 concept. It features four-wheel independent suspension with unequal-length control arms and longitudinally mounted spring-damper units to allow for its low profile. Braking is handled by six-piston aluminum Alcon calipers with cross-drilled and vented rotors at all four corners. When the rear canopy is opened, the rear suspension components and engine become the car’s focal point. Precision-milled aluminum suspension components and attached 19-inch Goodyear tires combined with the overwhelming presence of the V-8 powertrain create a striking appearance and communicate the GT40 concept’s performance credentials.

Powertrain

The powerplant is an all-American V-8 from Ford's modular engine family. The MOD 5.4-liter V-8 in the GT40 concept features aluminum four-valve heads, forged crankshaft, H-beam forged rods and aluminum pistons fed by a supercharger, all combining to make more than 500 horsepower and 500 foot-pounds of torque. These figures match or exceed those of the most powerful period GT40, a car that could handily top 200 mph on the Mulsanne straight at Le Mans. Because of the supercharger and high-revving, free-breathing valvetrain, the new car produces this astounding power from an efficient 5.4-liter V-8 engine. The power is put to the road through an RBT sixspeed manual transmission.

What’s Next for GT40?

The GT40 concept was created to foretell and test the future of exciting Ford cars to come. As with other Living Legends concepts – including the 1999 Thunderbird concept and Forty-Nine concept, the GT40 was engineered from the beginning for production feasibility. Ford’s SVT Engineering, which also created performance versions of the Focus, Mustang Cobra and FSeries Lightning developed the chassis and powertrain. SVT Engineering worked closely with Living Legends designers to ensure the concept would live up to its performance heritage.
