Mustang of the Month The feature Mustang...is a Bill OGorman's 1968 Mustang With American Flag
Special Interest Ford Tim Gustafson's Lightning With American Flag
Many thanks to all of you who sent in a Mustang or other vehicle photo with an American Flag attached. I'm sorry to say that there were not enough to make a full blown gallery display page, so I'm only posting the two that we thought were most fitting. First, in the Mustang division we selected Bill OGorman's 1968 with a flag neatly mounted on it's rear fastback area. Next we selected Tim Gustafson's Ford Lightning Truck for the Special Interest division. Both Bill and Tim will receive a free complimentary CMA CD-R as a prize and small thank you for participating and being selected for display. Tim said his Mustang was in the bodyshop, but to show us how patriotic he is he sent in his Lightning photo. As you can see for yourself, Tim doesn't do anything small! I hope that the whole country displays it's pride as well as you folks.

Did you know that the Mustang was named after the World War II fighter plane and not the horse. Yes, it's true! Even though there is a horse in the front Mustang grill and on it's badging, Lee Iacocca admits to the truth in his
autobiography .
They have all been promised to museums and four of them will be placed in a special exhibit, "The Henry Ford Story", which will be located at Greenfield Village. You'll just have to visit the Henry Ford Museum to get an up close and personal eyeball full of these beauties. The museums were told they could order their Model-T replica in any color of course as long as it is black.
It has come to my attention that many people are avoiding downloads of Freeware and Shareware products, because they fear something called Spyware. Let me state here and now that Classic Mustang Analyzer is not Spyware and never will be. Does Spyware really exist or is it some kind of internet legend? Sad to say, yes it does exist! Is it a reason to avoid all Freeware and Shareware products? No, it isn't. First, let me say what Spyware is not. It is not a virus, a worm or a trojan horse. Those will all wreak havoc or harm your system in some way. What Spyware does is report back to it's developer information about your system or it's components. Is this ethical to do without the user's permission? I think not. If used in the right way it can actually be helpful. For instance, to let you know when a new version is available or to change the information in an advertisement. People however should have the right to accept or decline this type of software. What can you do to stop or block Spyware? I recommend putting up a firewall. A firewall will block any software trying to access the internet on it's own. I use ZoneAlarm and it's also a free product. Like an anti-virus program it operates behind the scenes until it is needed and then it springs into action. There is another product called
Ad-Aware that will detect software that is feeding ads on to your computer. If this subject peaks your interest, then I refer you to Gibson Research Corp. as the top anti-spyware web site to find out more about this form of invasion of privacy. As a member of the Association of Shareware Professionals since 1996, I would hope that you continue to download Shareware products that are well written and inexpensive when compared to shelfware or prepackaged software sold by the major companies. Shareware authors don't have the resources to compete with the large software giants, but are genuinely interested in their topics and continue to produce high quality software at very moderate and reasonable prices. The people who produce Spyware and don't provide a warning are hurting all the small developers in this fragile industry.
