More insider tips for using the Analyzer.
Many of you email me requesting information on how to value your classic Mustang, how to make it show worthy, or how to tell if a part is authentic or not. The best thing that you can do for yourself is to join a local club or contact members of a local club to help appraise your vehicle in the proper way. The tip here is that hidden among all of it's other goodies CMA contains a Mustang, Shelby, and Ford clubs database. Using this database you can find a club close to where you live and either join or go to some of their shows and get to know members and examine cars that are correctly restored.
This is the eighth part of an on going series to present you with accurate prices to fill in to the CMA Window Sticker Maker. I have been searching for quite some time as I'm sure many of you have to find accurate sticker pricing information.

NEW FRAMES webpages for CMA ! I hope this works out for all. In an effort to modernize our website a decision was made to utilize frames. Many folks including myself have had trouble with frames in the past, but the new browsers seem to be handling them well and in an effort to incorporate some newer HTML coding, it was decided to give them a try. If you haven't updated to Internet Explorer 5 yet, it's worth the effort. Haven't experimented with the new Netscape Navigator yet, but plan to soon. In a nutshell, frames were chosen to save time and space in loading new pages. Please let me know what you think. If you find some things not working as they should, I would appreciate it if you drop me a line. Many dramatic code changes were made and will most likely have to be refined over the next several weeks. This should remain transparent for the most part. Also, in an effort to make our Links section more user friendly it has been divided up into some logical subcatagories. Right now, if you wish to access the frames section directly go to Classic Mustang Analyzer FRAMES
If you use the older link that you probably have bookmarked, you will be provided with a choice of Frames or No Frames. Running a few diagnostic tests has told us already that using the Frames method on our site is absolutely a much faster way to navigate it. Another item worth a quick mention is our new color scheme. We are trying to give CMA a more distinctive unified look. The colors chosen were cornsilk yellow for the background page color and darkblue for normal page text. It took quite a while to choose a pleasing background that was not to harsh on the eyes, stayed within our original color scheme and yet provided a nice contrast with a dark print text.

Tommy Frie is a classic Mustang buff and restorer. Tom buys, restores, and sells classic Mustangs of all years and types. After visiting his website you will come away with an appreciation for what he does. Many CMA users love classic Mustangs, but don't own one. The various reasons that I hear about in emails are, can't find one, can't find one good enough, can't find the one I want or like, don't have enough money to buy or restore one, don't have enough time to work on one or to show it. If you fall into the category of "can't find one", you should definately check out Tommy's Mustangs at: http://users.ticnet.com/tommysmustang . When I visited his site, Tommy had many 1965 and '66 models in convertible, fastback, and hardtop versions. A unique Shelby replica was on hand as well as many late model ponycars. Check out his fine stable of Stangs, all are priced with descriptions and ready to go.
Bridgestone/Firestone is voluntarily recalling approximately 6.5 million tires due to defects that could result in the tread separating from the body of the tire. It is estimated that as many as 46 fatal accidents may have resulted from this defect. Most of the tires being recalled were installed by Ford on new Explorers over the last few years.
Models Recalled: Firestone ATX radial, Firestone ATX II radial, (both made any where in North America), and the Wilderness AT (made in the Decatur, Ill. plant only). All tires recalled are in the P235/75R15 size.
The company states that it could take as long as six to eight months to carry out the recall program due to an insufficient supply of replacement tires. States where the weather and roads are extremely hot will receive preference because the problem seems to be worst where tires heat up. People are well advised to keep speeds low to prevent excessive heating of the tires. The company states that all tire owners will receive a letter from the company when sufficient supply for replacement is available. Drivers who don't wish to wait may visit a Firestone dealer to check for stock on hand or choose a replacement brand such as Michelin, Perilli, Goodyear, Dunlop, or UniRoyal. The company does not promise credit or reimbursement for alternative brands.
For it's part, Ford Motor Company has made a corporate decision to temporaily close three truck producing plants so that the 70,000 tires already on hand for those new vehicles could be used for recall replacements. That must have been a real slapping back to reality for Ford executives.

One of the questions I'm most often asked is, "What is my car worth?" While I've attempted to address this issue before, it seems to be of constant interest to CMA users and readers. Those of you who are registered users can read or reread the section about classic Mustang pricing. Using a certified classic car appraiser is the best idea, because many folks just don't know what to look for. Using a professional is well worth the price. You can usually find one in one of the local clubs. Please use this series as an updated guide to the prices contained in the current version of CMA.
The ratings are fair, good, and excellent to simplify things although many professionals use a one to five rating with five being the lowest. So you can correlate this to three, two, and one because anything less is really not worth the investment unless it's a very rare or valuable model. Fair would represent a car in driving condition, but in need of restoration. Good represents a show car in what most people might consider mint condition with some minor flaws. Excellent represents a show car in what the MCA might call Thoroughbred class condition. What that means in some cases is better than showroom condition with all original parts or factory original replacement parts. All markings, tags and decals are correct in every detail.
